Loveland COSMIC Race - Course Information

Course Description / Updated March 6th, 2008

The following is an outline of the "fair weather" course. The final course may be a variation on this course - reflecting snow and visibility on Saturday morning at start time.
We'll do our best to give participants the most challenging, safe and scenic skiing and skinning possible.

  1. Start Base Area. Competitors start on foot and run through the tunnel before putting on skis or splitboards.
  2. Climb to top of chair 8 via Awesome. Continue above chair 8 to Tickler, descend/traverse to top of chair 4.
  3. Descend Mercury / North Chutes (not as marked on map) to Creek trail just above base of lift 9. (Recreation course now climbs South Chutes to Ptarmigan/top of chair 2, continues to top of lift 6, decend to Park Bench. Climb through Cat Walk Trees to Dave's Ditch, traverse to top of chair one, descend Over the Rainbow to finish.
  4. Race Course - From Chair 9/Creek Trail, climb to top of Chair 9.
  5. Traverse to Castle Rock, descend Jelly Roll (if conditions permit - climb Super Bowl, descend Wild Child) to Dealer's Choice/Forest Meadow to Park Bench.
  6. From Park Bench, climb and traverse Dave's Ditch to top of chair one, descend Avalanche Bowl 250 ft, traverse right and boot up to top of Over the Rainbow, descend to finish.
