The 2019 Indian Peaks Rally, will take place at Eldora Mountain on November 23 & 24.

Saturday - Individual Race USSMA National Cup Series Race

Sunday - Sprint Race USSMA National Championship Race

THE RACES ARE OPEN TO ALL CATEGORIES (SEE BELOW) AND ARE ALSO THE USA YOUTH OLYMPIC TEAM QUALIFIER

NEW: All USSMA members will receive 10% off USSMA sanctioned races. SIGN UP NOW and get 10% off for these races! It's encouraged, but not necessary to have a USSMA license to race. Only USSMA licensed members will be included in points rankings and are eligible for Championship podium designation.

  • Recreation/Heavy Metal Youth (U17)

Saturday, November 23

Individual Race - 7:30 AM Start YOG Qualifiers, 7:35 AM Start All Other Categories

Registration and required slope-access ticket and number pick-up at 6 AM in lower INDIAN PEAKS LODGE.

Racers may begin warm up at 6:30 only on permitted warm up runs: UP Bonanza and DOWN Sunset runs.

LONG COURSE = 4 laps (Open, Vet, Espoir, Junior) and approximately 4,000 ft elevation gain.
YOUTH OLYMPIC QUALIFIERS = 3 laps and approximately 3,000 ft elevation gain.
SHORT COURSE/REC = 2 laps (Rec/Heavy Metal, Cadet) and approximately 2,000 ft elevation gain.


Awards ceremony will be held near the West Wing Deck around 11am.


“Race Category” Specific Rules and Gear Requirements:


Racers are required to carry standard snow safety equipment: avalanche probe, avalanche shovel and 457 kHz avalanche beacons
A pack that can carry skis
Hydration source (bottle or bladder)
Goggles, helmet shield or sunglasses
Windproof upper body layer must be worn or carried in pack
Skis must be alpine style skis with metal edges (NO split boards), randonee or 75mm or NTN telemark bindings are acceptable.
Climbing skins

“Rec / Heavy Metal / Cadet Category” Gear Requirements:

Racers are required to carry a hydration source (bottle or bladder)
Goggles or sunglasses
Windproof upper body layer must be worn or carried in pack
Rec participants must also be on alpine style skis or split boards with metal edges. Randonee, tech, telemark or split board bindings are all acceptable in this category.
All participants are required to use climbing skins.

Sunday, November 24

Sprint Race – 9 AM Start time - Sprint-style short race on single run. Very spectator friendly.
NO DAY OF REGISTRATION! REG CLOSES SATURDAY AT 11:59PM SHARP!!! NOVEMBER 23

WARM UP OFF COURSE - 7AM - 8AM (UP Bananza and DOWN Sunset runs.) RACER WARM UP ON COURSE 8:20AM - 8:50AM
RACE START 9AM

Starting at 9:00 AM each racer will race the sprint course in a time trial format. The racers will race alone and depart every 30-45 seconds. Depending on the total number of racers, 6-16 racers will advance to a semi final race (or just a final race if the group is small). The semi-finals will be raced ski-cross style with 6-8 racers racing at the same time. The top 3 racers from the semi finals will advance to the finals.

Awards ceremony will be held near the West Wing Deck around 12:30pm.
